five days, five songs…

A couple of weeks ago Rob Overseer and I jump started a whole load of new material by writing a song a day for a working week. It was awesomely stressful but brilliantly productive, with five quite different but successful songs coming out of, well, nowhere really.

We were both pretty bloody surprised to be honest – hoped we’d get a couple of useable ones but weren’t expecting five good solid tracks.

Thing is, now we’re on quite a roll and have kept going! We’re got some fantastic new material and are planning to take it into Rob’s studio in the near future. I’m very excited! Feeling rather kid with new toy-ish!

special day…

Wishing everyone a happy royal wedding day for tomorrow  - I have elected to rise from the ever woeful fog of singer/songwritery, to be a beacon of wedding cheer – bubbly chillin’, brie, olives, salami and tiger bread…mostly just sitting about, and special crown adorned cup cakes speaking to me from the kitchen. I feel all my wedding prep is now complete – esp as I’ve just put up the bunting. Have a lovely day everyone!

snap snap snap, waaa waaa waaa…

Just finished the photo shoot for the Kanute relaunch – and now the husband if off celebrating with the photographer! So unfair! Still, I guess he did have the baby all day while mummy was being a rockstar…

a very happy new year and a very happy start to it might I add…

The very happiest of new years to one and all! I hope your festive season was merry.

I am happy to report that standard copies of Standing Room Only are on their way and will be available for purchase soon. Also, the return of the live band is coming on nicely and we are aiming to begin rehearsals next month. But more exciting, the lovely folks at BBC Introducing C&W have named us number four on their list of the most important things to have happened in the new music world, 2010. We’re touched and delighted that they like what we’re doing enough to have us at number four. Thanks guys!

talking room only…

…well, talking and two The Suit tracks. Tonight’s the night, The Suit/Rachael Kanute debut interview goes out between 8-9pm on bbc cov & warks introducing show. it is in two parts and spread over the hour so dont miss any!

standing room only download…

The album will soon be available in download format- to keep those if you without room on your shelves happy.

Watch thus space and what not.

suit up…

those lovely people at bbc introducing, cov & warks, are making The Suit band of the month. For those of you who don’t know, Rachael Kanute is involved in a collaborative project with The Suit, where she sings words she’s written over tunes she has not and is a bit miserable….so not that different to straightforwards Kanute really. Anywho, it involves radio people interviewing us, which should be a laugh as she tend to sound twelve in any other recorded form than singing. Maybe she should sing the interview…

double debut 17th june…

the lovely people at bbc introducing are spoiling us tonight with a rachael double debut. first chance to hear tangle me on the radio, from the standing room only album and also, first chance to hear the remix of the suit’s eninio3, featuring rachaelkanute on vocals. interesting fact for the day, tangle me was called monkey lullaby but the title was altered for the album…but at one point, monkey lullaby was a contender for the album name. go figure.
